The major refurbishment of the Merivale Rail Bridge posed plenty of challenges. As the only inner-city rail crossing the Brisbane river, there were the demands of rail and waterway traffic, as well as high winds and weight restrictions, as the scaffold had to be transported by barge from the Port of Brisbane to the CBD.
Known for its superior strength and high load-bearing capacity, Central Scaffolding supplied the Layher Allround scaffold for the project. Our experienced crane operators constructed the pre-assembled scaffold directly from the barge under the bridge.
The mid-river scaffold allowed construction crews to replace the bridge’s wooden sleepers and perform extensive maintenance and paint work without disruption to commuters.
