Because of this lady, our office has run smoothly and effortlessly for the past decade. Her commitment, smile, humour and ability to juggle a billion things at once makes her irreplaceable and a prized jewel. For her 10 year milestone our operations manager, Tyson Maher, interviewed Shelly to ask her what it’s been, what’s changed and what she has loved about working for Central Scaffolding.
What is your role at Central Scaffolding?
My role is office manager as I do the invoices, payroll, also chat to all the clients and the quotes.
What is your favourite part about being an office manager?
When we have the go ahead for a quote, I get so excited and I think “yes! we’ve got this one!”
What is your biggest success you’ve achieved in the last 10 years?
The Merivale Bridge. Ray and I worked on this one for months and months, getting all the documentation together, we did a great job plus invoicing, that was the biggest achievement it all working out. Over 700 man hours went into that job.
How has your job changed in the last 10 years?
Massively! We have many more clients now, more jobs, more staff – it has changed for the better.
Do you remember what your first day on the job was like?
I do! I had butterflies, I was scared. Trying to work out Ray’s writing was near impossible and I just got thrown in the deep end, but with everyone’s help I adjusted and made it work.
What is your favourite part about working with Central Scaffold?
I enjoy coming to work, I enjoy the guys coming in – we have a laugh! I enjoy the environment here.
That’s a wrap!
